The Unbothered Colourette Cosmetics’ CEO Trends on Twitter

What do you get from being vocal on your opinion about the government? Support? Backlash? Well, for most, it is definitely the latter. And even an established businesswoman is not an exception to this treatment.

Nina Ellaine Dizon, founder and CEO of local makeup brand, Colourette Cosmetics, caught herself in a center of hateful and angry tweets by some netizens last Friday, November 13.

After her brand trended on the 11th for its success during the biggest online shopping sale, Dizon was once again caught in a hot topic in the Twitter world. Only this time, people are hating instead of congratulating her.

On November 12, the lady boss took to Twitter her sentiments about the government’s lack of accountability during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses. Dizon used the hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo, when Duterte seemed to be absent when he is needed the most.

Although her supporters applauded her for using her platform and influence to speak about social issues, some were definitely not happy with her words.

#boycottCOLOURETTECOSMETICS immediately trended after some defenders of the president called out Dizon and her makeup brand. Some users said that they regret purchasing items from the brand during the 11.11 sale. While there are those who made remarks on Dizon’s physical appearance and called her names.

But, being the unbothered queen that she is, she responded to cancel the orders herself. Well, there are still people waiting in line to have their hands on the lipsticks, right? Moreover, Dizon also emphasized the importance of speaking up.

Her tweet reads, “Kung hindi ka magsasalita, SINO? Kung hindi ngayon, KAILAN?”

She furthered that people should not expect her to stay mum when “oppression” is happening right before her eyes. Also, she asked for forgiveness to those who defend her and might be affected with the issue she is in.

As of writing, Dizon and the people rallying behind her are using the hashtag to gather donations for the victims and survivors of the typhoon. #boycottCOLOURETTECOSMETICS is also being utilized to spread awareness on the current situation of Cagayan and Isabela.
